We are now a family of three!

Smiles on our last visit before court.

This was a quick picture taken after the 1st part of the court proceedings and before the judgement. Dr. Roza is next to me, Masha is next to Karen and the 3rd lady was Vera who is the assistant Director of Education for this area..All very important women to this area and to us!

We were not supposed to go to court till this morning but while we were finishing up at the internet cafe yesterday we received a call that the court appearance was move up to 4pm yesterday afternoon because the Judge had to leave town for a meeting. So we rushed home and got cleaned up and went to court. If court dates have to change at least they changed in our favor. This means the 15 day waiting period starts today and this means we can pick up Nurik before their spring holiday. If we had not gotten into court yesterday it could easily have been another week wait. The proceedings lasted about 30 min and were very straight forward. They asked each of us why we wanted to adopt from Kaz and why we chose Nurik. Karen was more eloquent than I (no surprise there) but we answered several questions and the ladies all presented their information. Then these very reserved ladies all hugged us and it was over and we are now a family (WOW). I actually celebrated last night with the first diet Pepsi I have had since I left the states (yes believe it or not I am caffeine free).

Well the net connection is not good today so I will end by thanking everyone for their prayers and continued support. We are now one step closer to coming home. Love K-Pat

That is wonderful. I hope the weather improves so you can enjoy these next couple of weeks while you wait. I think the weather is turning here and you will come home to real SPRING in KY. Glad the court thing is over.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so thankful that part is over for you all. You now can look to the future with your family of THREE. Yipee! The count down is on until you all get to start home. You asked about Zach's Spring break. We are on Spring break this week. The weather here this week is suppose to be Spring like so that is good for doing some fun things.
The pictures are great. You had said in a previous blog that when it is very cold that the internet messes up. Does that mean it is very cold?? Hopefully, you can retry on the rest of pictures so we can see.

Zach says hello and he is very excited that you are a family of three. He can't wait to play with Nick after school is out at the end of MAY.

Have a great evening while we are starting our morning. I think I'll see if Dad will let us call soon. Love, Kelly & Family

Congratulations on getting through the court date! I know you must be anxious to bring Nurik home.

I went to my sister-in-law's baby shower 2 weeks ago. They are expecting twin girls right after Easter and you should have seen the mountain of diapers they had to haul home :) It took my brother's pick-up and Shannon's mini-van to get everything. It made me think of you guys and trying to get everything in the suitcases (LOL).

Pat -- Harvey has found a channel where they are showing digitally remastered episodes of the original Star Trek series. I'm sure they will be released on DVD at some point -- the fan boys will demand it. Keep your eyes peeled when you get back to the states.

BTW, you asked for an ER update. Dr. Pratt got called up by the medical board b/c of the free clinic at the church (a patient died at the ER from a drug complication). The pastor came to the hearing with a bunch of the members of the church and pleaded to the board on his behalf and he did not get his license revoked. Neela found out that a guy who was running a transplant program accepted money from a match and threated to rat him out. She told DeBanco what she knew, he questioned the guy who denied it and basically decided to look the other way. Neela declined to participate in the transplant and now she's on DeBanco's s**t list. He brought in some new hot shot intern and is giving her all the good surgeries instead of Neela. Also, her relationship with Tony is cooling and she is seemingly getting back with Ray. Last episode ended with them kissing in his car. Sam put Alex into a residental school for at risk youth after he burned down their apartment from playing with fire. Definitely a good idea, but hard for her to do. Luca and Abbey are now formally engaged but are trying to keep it under wraps for now. Also, Luca finally went head to head with the guy who had sued him (Forrest Whittaker) and long story short that guy got taken out by police sharpshooters when he had Luca on a rooftop at gunpoint. New episodes start after Easter. Yippee!

Well, that's all the news from Lake Wobegon. Sorry for the long post.

Hey happy family! I can't tell you the joy that I feel seeing your pictures--they are just precious!
Our floors are done! We have yet to paint and replace the baseboards, etc., but we needed a break. Ryan's work schedule has been crazy with going back and forth to Cincinnati almost every day.
I just got back from my second official BSF retreat and it was absolutely awesome!!! We studied Isaiah and I can't wait to have one of our "fellowships" Karen! This time we'll just have Nurik, Ryan and Julia in the background playing. How sweet. Maybe you can come to an intro in May and bring Nurik to the children's program next year:)
Well, enough for now. Enjoy your little buddy! Will write again soon! The Douglas Family

Congratulations!!The court day is finally over and you are a family. The Lord really blessed you by getting to go to court early so you could come home on time. I felt sorry for Nurik with his little lips so cracked.Surely they put something on them.Maybe chapstick... Our Bible Study group prayed for you and Terry Daly passed around a picture of you three today. They were happy for you and us.
Well, they finally began laying our tile in the kitchen today Tue. Just can't wait to be done so we can ourselves back together. Doris Stacer is back in the hospital with bile duct problems. this is the forth time since her original surgery. We have hears that Pat H. is doing ok. Uncle John has had a laser treatment on his back to kill the nerve that has been causing him so much pain. Don't know the complete results of that yet but it was very painful procedure and we are just praying it will give him some relief.Guess that is enough jiberish for now

Congratulations! It's been great to follow your trip through the post, and to see you becoming a family with Nurik.

Have the nurses updated you yet? I'm working at the GCRC this week for Lisa, who is on spring break in Ft. Lauderdale! Rebecca has been a great help with meals and the nurses fed me Pizza Hut today; just like old times.

The weather is getting nicer here. I believe it was around 70 this past Friday, and we've now set the clocks ahead for spring so the sun will set around 1/4 till 8 tonight!

Have you heard the March Madness news? If you'd rather be surprised, don't read below.

UK lost in overtime to Mississipi St in the SEC tournament. They are an 8 seed going into the NCAA tournament, playing Villanova this Friday in Chicago. If they win they will most likely play Kansas, a number one seed, on Sunday. We'll see. The number on seeds are: Florida, Kansas, UNC, and Ohio State.

I've been on interviews for grad school. Went to Auburn this past weekend and now am waiting to hear back from the schools.....

Enjoy the rest of your time away and congratulations!
